What does the message "Parktronic Not Functioning, Consult Manual" really mean? The Parktronic system (or PTS) uses ultrasonic sensors in the bumpers: when you see that message, it means the control unit has disabled the system to avoid false alarms.

The most likely causes are dirty or damaged sensors: rain, mud, or snow covering the sensors.

Often, simply cleaning them will make the message disappear. However, it could also be a sensor damaged by a bump (even a small hit to the bumper can displace it and render it inactive) or defective (they may have lost sensitivity).

It could also be a wiring issue (the wire may be corroded or broken). On older models, the problem could also be due to a failed Parktronic control unit.

You can drive normally, but you must be very careful when parking. Have the system checked as soon as possible.
