What to Do If a Warning Appears on the Instrument Cluster of a Mercedes C-Class W204

If the warning to check the coolant appears on the instrument cluster of your Mercedes C-Class W204, you need to act. Wait a couple of hours for the engine to cool down, then open the hood and locate the expansion tank. The level should be near the 'max' mark (never above). If it is below 'min', add coolant of the same color as what is inside; fill it to the 'max' mark. If the level drops quickly, you may have a leak: this could occur at the water pump, in a cracked expansion tank (which should show signs of fluid), in hoses or gaskets (check under the car for leaks), or issues with the radiator, including damage to hoses or components. After adjusting the level, turn on the ignition and enter the menu using the 'ok' button: go to 'service' and then 'coolant level'. Select 'confirm level'. Turn off and restart, and the warning will disappear.
