How Do the Parking Sensors Work on the Mercedes CLK?

The parking sensors on the Mercedes CLK do not come with an audible warning like most sensors: in these car models, there are two indicators at the front and rear of the vehicle. As you approach an obstacle, the number of bars on the corresponding indicator increases; when the indicator is full, it means you have reached the minimum possible distance from the obstacle. Additionally, the audible warning only activates when the car is extremely close to the obstacle: the sensors can be deactivated using the controls on the central console.
