Replacing Front Brake Rotors and Pads

Model: Mercedes Sl MK 5, R129 - Years 1989-2001

Lift the vehicle on appropriate jack stands and remove the front wheels; then disconnect the wear sensor connectors, remove the sensor bracket from both the caliper and the hub; unscrew the retaining bolt of the rotor to the hub, extract the retaining pins of the pads from the caliper, and remove the central support spring and the wear sensors; then extract the old pads by prying between the rotor and pads to retract the caliper piston; next, remove the caliper mounting bolts to take it off and complete the rotor removal. Clean the rotor seat on the hub with a wire brush, apply grease, and install the new rotor after cleaning off the protective oil. Then reattach the caliper, insert the new pads, the wear sensors, the central spring, and the retaining pins; finally reconnect the sensor wiring.
