Repairing the Outside Rearview Mirror

Model: Mercedes Sl MK 5, R129 - Years 1989-2001

To remove the outside rearview mirror, you need to take off the triangular plastic cover located right next to the mirror itself and unscrew the screws underneath (you do not need to remove the door panel); once the screws are removed, take the mirror out of its housing after disconnecting the plug; at this point, rotate the mirror downward and detach it gently, apply grease at the anchoring points and the adjustment system, and reattach the mirror in its housing by pressing until you hear a click.
