Where to Find the Secondary Battery of the Mercedes A-Class

The Mercedes A-Class has a secondary battery located under the passenger side mat, directly beneath the glove compartment. By removing the upholstery - which is only laid down, nothing needs to be cut - you will discover a compartment with a tab. Pressing that tab will allow you to pull out a small 12V, 1.2 A battery, part number N000000004039. The auxiliary battery is a recent innovation, primarily used in BMW and Mercedes vehicles to assist with Start and Stop functionality, preventing malfunctions if the main battery is too stressed from normal use.
