The electric opening and closing system of the car radio antenna was a must for many manufacturers during the late 80s and 90s: essentially, when the car radio was turned on, the electric system activated to open the antenna, which generally extended from the rear hood and retracted when the radio was turned off. It was quite common for the gears that activate the opening and closing system to break, which is why a replacement kit was introduced for repairs. You need to access the antenna mount in the trunk, remove the carpet covering, unscrew the mounting plate pins, and disconnect the connectors to complete the disassembly; once the device is disassembled, proceed to open it and replace the gears.
