To replace the timing chain on a Mercedes C-Class, remove the front engine cover by loosening the corresponding bolts. Before accessing it, you will need to remove other obstructing parts, such as the radiator.

Once the chain is visible, loosen the pin that secures the tensioner and remove it. By also loosening the nuts that secure the center pins of the sprockets, you can loosen them and then slide off the chain. At this point, the part can be replaced, and all previously removed components can be reinstalled.
