Replacing the Front Bonnet Gas Strut

The struts that support the front bonnet by pushing it upwards during opening and holding it in place when closed are gas struts that can wear out over time, losing their support capacity. Replacing these struts is simple and inexpensive; just check the compressed length and type of attachment to choose the correct new ones. Lift the front bonnet until the safety catches engage. Using a small screwdriver, remove the retaining clips from the ball joints and detach them to remove the old struts and install the new ones, securing them with the clips.
