To replace the shift knob on a Mercedes-Benz C-Class, pry up the bottom of the leather boot covering the lever, lifting it completely. Once the boot is raised, locate a small button at the base of the knob that needs to be pressed down. By pressing down this button, you can slide the knob off the top, completely disconnecting it from the lever. Now, position the new knob on top of the shift lever, securing the boot to its base and ensuring everything functions correctly.
