How to Use the Mercedes Steering Wheel Automatic Transmission

Some Mercedes models do not have the traditional gear lever we are used to, but instead feature a steering wheel automatic transmission. This can be a challenge for those unfamiliar with this type of control, but let's see how it works. The gears (if we can call them that for an automatic transmission) are displayed on the front screen. In this moment, the video shows the vehicle is parked, indicating we are in "P" and "N". To start an automatic vehicle, press the brake and the start button. To put the vehicle in motion, press the brake and click down; this will shift us into "D", which means drive. To stop, keep your foot on the brake and click the button on the satellite, which allows us to put the vehicle in "P", meaning park. If I want to engage reverse, keep your foot on the brake and push the lever up. This will disengage park mode, push up again to enter reverse, and the rearview camera will activate. There are also paddle shifters on the steering wheel that can be used when the vehicle is in sport mode.
