Replacing Your Car's Fan

Model: Mercedes Clk A208, W208, C208 - Years 1997-2003

The cooling system consists of a radiator, which is fed by a water circuit when the thermostat opens. Its job is to lower the surrounding temperature or maintain it at relatively low values. This guide shows how to change your car's fan yourself. First, completely drain the car's cooling circuit by letting the fluid out of the radiator through the drain hose. Disconnect all electrical connections before touching anything and check if it is possible to remove the fan without touching the radiator, or if it is secured in place. Check whether the coupling and the fan can be removed as a unit or if they are secured independently with bolts and screws.
