This is because heat tends to increase pressure, and the liquid could "spurt" out. Once opened, check the colour, density, and level between the minimum and maximum marks indicated on the tank.

Ensure there is no oil mixed with the coolant, as this could indicate a leak within the engine due to a failing head gasket. If some coolant is missing, add more, but it must be the same colour as the liquid in the tank.

If the level is very low, there may be a leak, and it is advisable to check the entire cooling circuit of your vehicle.
