How to replace the oxygen sensor of a Mini R56
Model: Mini Mini
R57, R55, R56
- Years 2007-2014
Let's see how to replace the oxygen sensor, also known as the "lambda sensor" on a Mini R56. Its main task is to measure the amount of oxygen present in the exhaust gases: this information is sent to the ECU, which uses it to adjust the air-fuel mixture, in order to optimize combustion, improving the engine efficiency. We remove the front plate of the engine compartment, removing ten bolts and three clips. Under the manifold, in a rather awkward position, we find our sensor, which must be unscrewed with a 22mm wrench and pulled away from the opposite side, also removing an electrical connector for more space.
