Need to remove the alternator from a Mini? Here's how to take it out from the engine bay. Lift the bonnet and secure it, locate the battery and disconnect the terminals. Remove the engine cover and, if necessary, the front bumper. Use a socket spanner to undo the bolts, being careful not to damage the wiring harness membranes, and remove all securing bolts from the alternator. Take the alternator out of the engine bay. Fit the new part, tighten the securing bolts, then connect the auxiliary belt. Refit all cover pieces.
