How do you replace the timing chain of the Mini Cooper?

Model: Mini Mini R56, R57, R55 - Years 2007-2014
Part: Timing belt

In order to replace the timing chain of the Mini Cooper, it is necessary to remove some bulky components inside the engine compartment: it will be necessary to loosen the screws that secure the oil pan on the bottom and those that secure the valve cover on the top. Then, the right front wheel, the corresponding wheel arch, and the side panel of the engine block will need to be removed: this way, the chain will be visible and can be removed by sliding out the corresponding tensioner. By doing this, its tension will be reduced and it will be possible to remove it, replacing it with a new one.

Unscrew the retaining bolts of the air intake kit (located above the engine head), remove the cover of the filter box and extract the worn air filter. Insert a new filter into the designated housing (ensuring it fits snugly against the walls). Finally, reassemble the air box cover and tighten everything with the bolts.
