To replace the shift knob on a Nissan Altima, you need to lower the chrome part located at the base of the knob, detaching it from its upper section. Under the chrome part, there will be clips that secure the knob to the end of the shift lever: once these clips are removed, you can pull the knob off the top of the lever and also remove the chrome part. This way, you can install the new knob onto the end of the lever and secure it to its housing with the clips that will be covered by the chrome.
