How to reset the airbag warning light on the Nissan Qashqai?

When the airbag warning light appears on the dashboard of the Nissan Qashqai, it indicates a generic problem with the airbag system: the light often illuminates due to an electronic fault related to the light switch. To resolve the issue, remove the airbag located at the centre of the steering wheel by unscrewing the screws at the back; then loosen the screws securing the steering wheel and remove it to access the light switch at the back. These can now be replaced, then connect a scanner to the OBD port and reset the errors stored in the unit.
