How do you replace the spiral contact of the steering wheel in a 2012 Nissan Qashqai?

Here's how to proceed. First of all, disconnect the battery and wait 10 minutes to avoid problems with the airbag. Remove the airbag by unscrewing the screws located behind the steering wheel and carefully disconnect the connectors. Next, loosen the central nut of the steering wheel without completely removing it and, with a few taps, remove the steering wheel. Now you have access to the spiral contact: disconnect the connectors, unscrew the fixing screws, and remove it. Install the new contact by aligning it correctly; it usually has a centering block. Reconnect everything and reassemble the steering wheel and airbag. Finally, reconnect the battery and perform a test to check the horn, controls, and indicators. If everything works, you have done a great job. Alternatively, you can contact a specialized workshop.
