How to change the drive belt on the Opel Meriva A

Let's see how to change the service belt on an Opel Meriva A: first of all, it is advisable to disconnect the negative terminal of the battery to avoid short circuits; lift and support the vehicle, blocking the wheels, and if necessary, remove the wheel and the wheel arch on the side where we need to perform the operation, this will make our work easier. To remember the belt route well, it is recommended to take a picture of the belt before removing it, in order to reassemble it correctly. Then loosen the tensioner, which is the component that has a tab with a square hole or a screw for the tool, which we will insert into the hole. Rotate the tool clockwise until we hear the belt click and loosen, and it can be removed. Replace the tensioner and the pump. We can find all these components on auto-doc. Install the new belt following the photo, passing the new belt over all the pulleys, except for the tensioner pulley. Tension the belt by rotating the tool in the opposite direction to before (counterclockwise) to tighten the belt, which is correctly tensioned when it is pressed halfway along the longest stretch. Reassemble all the components, reconnect the battery, start the engine and listen to the engine: there should be no squeaks or abnormal noises.
