Let's see how to remove the gear knob from an Opel Astra H. Hold the knob and rotate it left and right until it comes off the gear stick. Use a plastic lever to disconnect the leather gaiter frame (if replacing).

Before fitting the new knob, ensure the gaiter is positioned over the gear stick and the centre console. Take the new knob and slide it onto the stick until it is secured.

Finally, test the movement of the stick on the centre console to ensure the knob and gaiter frame are correctly fitted.
