Replacement of Front Shock Absorber Mount

Model: Vauxhall Astra Astra G - Years 1998-2006
Part: Shocks

When the front shock absorber mount fails, a loud creaking is heard when steering from a standstill, which intensifies while driving on uneven surfaces; to replace this mount, first dismantle the front shock absorber and have the appropriate tool to compress the spring. Lift the vehicle on a hydraulic lift and remove the front wheel; then disconnect the drop link, pull out the grommet, and free the brake fluid pipe from its support. Unscrew the securing pins of the shock absorber to the hub and access the engine bay to complete the dismantling by unscrewing the mounting nuts of the mount to the body strut; at this point, compress the spring with the appropriate tool and unscrew the mounting nut of the mount from the shock absorber shaft to extract the old one and insert the new one: only after tightening the nut on the shaft should you release the spring; then proceed in reverse for the installation of the shock absorber with the new mount on the vehicle.
