Cleaning the Diesel Particulate Filter on Opel Astra J

If the diesel particulate filter warning light remains illuminated on the instrument cluster, it means that the blockage level is so high that the normal regeneration process cannot clear the filter, which could compromise the engine's operation, particularly affecting the turbocharger. You need to take the vehicle to a garage where the filter will be treated with specific cleaning agents capable of unblocking it and allowing normal regeneration to resume. Wait for the filter to cool down, remove the temperature sensor, and spray the appropriate additives inside the filter. Allow them to work, then refit the sensor, start the engine, and let it idle until the additives have completely evaporated. Take the car for a drive to reach the correct temperature and enable the regeneration process.
