Repairing the Boot Lock

Model: Vauxhall Zafira Zafira B, A05, MK 2 - Years 2005-2011

Repairing the lock can be approached in two ways: either purchase the entire complete block or replace the motor that actuates the lock. The fault in these types of motors lies in the burning of the copper brushes and the commutator. Once the lock block is disassembled, open the plastic cover to access the mechanics. Manually rotate the motor to bring the locking lever to the rest position, remove the gear wheel, and then the motor. These motors are readily available on the market; the only modification required is to recover the worm screw and mount it onto the shaft of the new motor. The total length of the motor, including the shaft, must be 59 mm. To recover the worm screw, cut the shaft of the motor and then use a rubber mallet to push out the remaining shaft. If the recovered motor shaft is not the same length, a modification is necessary by gluing the worm screw to the shaft of the motor using cyanoacrylate glue. Reassemble the motor and gear wheel in their housing, close the cover, and manually return the lever to the stop position.
