The air conditioning system on the Peugeot 508 MK2 is fitted with a filter to prevent dirt and dust from circulating; to maintain efficiency, you must periodically replace the filter element. To do this, sit in the driver's seat, and using a Torx screwdriver, remove the screw securing the triangular panel at the end of the centre tunnel.

Remove the panel above the pedals to access the filter box cover. Open it using a lever, pull out the old filter, and insert a new one. Close the cover, refit the upper panel, and secure it with its screw at the end of the tunnel.
