Let's see what it means if our Peugeot 3008 displays "fault in automatic headlight adjustment" on the dashboard: this indicates a malfunction in the system that automatically adjusts the angle of the high beam to avoid dazzling other vehicles. In the vast majority of cases, the problem is related to the suspension leveling sensors; less frequently, it may be due to the headlight actuators or the control unit. The sensor is located on the rear suspension arm: being exposed to water, salt, mud, and impacts, its connector can oxidize, or the wires may break, in addition to the connector itself suffering from wear. The wiring can also be damaged, or a fuse may have blown. If the problem is with the headlight actuator, then it concerns the small electric motor inside the headlight that moves the reflector. Before replacing expensive components, it is advisable to read the error codes using an OBD2 tool and check the fuses and connectors.
