To replace the gear knob on a Peugeot 308, engage the handbrake and place the lever in neutral. Firmly grasp the knob with both hands and pull it upwards decisively to detach it from the gear lever; on some models, you may need to twist it slightly. If present, first remove the collar or leather gaiter by unclipping the clips at the base. Once the knob is removed, position the new one on the lever, align it correctly, and press down until fully seated. Reposition the gaiter and ensure the knob is securely fixed and stable during use.
