How to Replace the Gear Knob on a Peugeot 207

To replace the gear knob on a Peugeot 207, start by removing the small lower plastic trim, which is secured with two side clips: gently pull it away. Underneath, there is an original cable tie that secures the leather gaiter. Using a knife or pliers, break the cable tie and remove it; this will allow the gaiter to slide down, exposing the knob. To extract the old knob, rotate it sideways and pull it upwards with force: it has no threading, it is just a press fit. To fit the new knob, insert it onto the stalk and push it down, tapping with the palm of your hand until it clicks into place. Then, reposition the gaiter and secure it with a new cable tie (or alternatively with a sturdy elastic band) passing it through the designated groove. Finally, reposition the lower trim by clicking the two clips back in place. The operation is simple and does not require special tools.
