Peugeot 406 Gearbox Replacement

Model: Peugeot 406 MK 1 - Years 1995-2005

Remove the small plastic cover located between the gearbox and the climate control switches, followed by the larger main plastic cover. Using a plastic lever (not metal!), gently lift the gear lever gaiter a little at a time, with patience. Once the gaiter is fully raised, use pliers to detach the entire upper part of the gearbox, which consists of the gaiter itself and the knob. If you wish to keep the gaiter, detach it from the knob and insert the new piece: reverse the process for reassembly, fitting the new knob, placing the gaiter back in position, and reinstalling the plastics.
