Instructions for Replacing Speed Sensor

The speed sensor is located on the gearbox: to replace it, it is advisable to let the engine cool down as you will need to reach into a tight space. Lift the vehicle on suitable axle stands to facilitate access under the floor pan and remove the splash cover. Locate the speed sensor on the gearbox, near the output of the driveshaft. Disconnect the connector by pressing on the metal clip, unscrew the mounting bolts of the sensor, and remove it from its location. Attach the gear to the new sensor and proceed with the installation in reverse order.
