Instructions for Replacing Handbrake Cable

Model: Peugeot 406 MK 1 - Years 1995-2005

To replace the handbrake cable, first remove the central tunnel cover; once the cover is off, disconnect the cable from the handbrake lever and pass it through the floor, effectively pulling it out of the cabin; at this point, lift the vehicle and continue by removing the cable from its housing (you will need to remove the heat shield located above the exhaust); before disconnecting the cable from the adjustment system, measure the length of the adjustment to install the new cable in the same position; then complete the removal of the old cable, insert the new one through its guides along the floor until it enters the cabin through the floor; connect the cable to the handbrake lever and then complete the connection to the adjustment system, respecting the previously noted measurement.
