How to Properly Change Engine Oil

Changing engine oil is not difficult, but it is important to do it correctly to avoid more or less serious issues with your car.

First, take a drive to warm up the engine, evenly distributing the oil within its circuit; then turn off the car and ensure it is on a perfectly flat and elevated area to work under the engine bay.

In the video, you can see the bolt at the base of the engine block that will allow for the complete draining of the oil reservoir. Using a container with a capacity of at least 7 litres, position it under the bolt and unscrew it counterclockwise, allowing it to drain for a few minutes by opening the filler cap and the oil dipstick, both located on the top of the engine block.

While waiting for all the oil to drain, you can also replace the filter by unscrewing the old one with the appropriate tool, being careful of any further fluid spillage. Lubricate the new gasket with oil and screw on the new filter.

Now replace the gasket on the cap you unscrewed initially and screw it back on.
Fill the appropriate reservoir of your car with new oil and periodically check the level using the dipstick; if necessary, add a little at a time until reaching the minimum level indicated, taking care not to exceed the maximum level.
