How to Dismantle and Repair the Boot Lock on a Peugeot

In this video, you will see how to dismantle the lock on the rear door of a Peugeot vehicle for repair. First, open it from the inside to lift the tailgate, then try to remove the cover that secures the plastic part to the metal part of the tailgate. Once the tailgate is separated, remove the screws from the lock, pull it inward, and reach in from the back to take out the lock. You will need to disconnect the electrical contacts, and now the lock is free for bench work. Remove the fixing screws to access the lock mechanism. Here, you will find the damaged part. It is a metal component shaped like a "U", a piece not available commercially, which you will need to fabricate from a piece of iron wire, as shown in the video. Once the piece is realigned, you will see that the lock starts functioning again. After verifying its functionality, you can close the cover and replace the lock. Reconnect the electrical connectors and reposition it in its housing. Reassemble the two halves of the tailgate. Operation complete.
