This video shows the correct way to install the self-adjusting clutch cable on the Peugeot 206. As demonstrated by the YouTuber, the metal cable only protrudes slightly from the rubber sheath that covers it, and with that small protrusion, it is not possible to make the connection. To ensure the cable connects properly, pull the sheath forcefully towards the rear to expose a much longer portion of the metal cable. This will allow you to attach the cable to the clutch in the female connector located on the vehicle.
