A Common Problem with the Right Rear Window Regulator on the Renault Scenic II

This video shows a common problem with the Scenic II (and also the Megane II) that often frustrates less experienced mechanics: the right rear window regulator and the electronic handbrake do not work. The cause is due to rainwater accumulating in the glove compartment under the driver's side mat (in front of the front passenger seat); this compartment is not adequately drained and forms a sort of pool, flooding the electrical components located beneath it, such as the double connector of the relay group, the wires, and the module of the electric handbrake relay group. You will need to remove the front seat, lift the carpet to access the flooded compartment, clean the drainage holes (or create new ones), visually locate the handbrake relay group and the large double connector, to check that the pins are not corroded. The solution shown for repair is a direct bypass; the damaged wires are cut, new wires are soldered to bypass the broken connector, and each solder joint is protected with heat-shrink tubing for insulation. The functionality of the window regulators and the handbrake will be restored.
