Test of a Renault Captur with a wheel stuck in mud

The test conditions shown in the video are a 27% incline: a 20 cm deep hole. The ground on the left is dry and compact, while there is mud inside the hole. The measurement was taken frame-to-frame, from the moment the right wheel hits the upper wall of the hole until it exits. The vehicle is, of course, a Renault Captur II TCe 100 with summer tyres, ESP + traction control (non-deactivatable) with an open differential. Tested in three multi-sense modes: Sport; My Sense; Eco. The results: in Sport mode, the traction control intervenes by reducing the power to the slipping wheel. The vehicle shows slight progression but struggles to exit due to the lack of a locking differential and the reduced grip of the right wheel. In My Sense mode, the system balances power between the wheels, but the open differential limits the ability to transfer torque to the wheel with grip. The vehicle exits the hole with some slipping. In Eco mode, the traction control is more conservative and takes longer to exit compared to the previous systems: if the hole is deep, it may remain stuck. In every mode for the Captur, the limitation remains the absence of a limited-slip differential.
