Check Operation and Adjustment of the Wastegate Valve

The operation of the wastegate valve helps maintain the turbine's rotational speed within certain limits, thereby limiting boost pressure and preventing excessive strain on the forced induction system. In the case of pneumatic actuation, the valve is controlled by a pipe connected to the compressor side: once the threshold limit is exceeded, the internal pressure of the compressor overcomes the resistance of a spring inside the valve, causing it to open. This allows some exhaust gases to bypass the turbine, which decelerates along with the compressor, reducing boost pressure. To check the valve operation, remove the engine cover and air filter box to access the pipe and connect a manual pump.
