Dismantling and Cleaning EGR Valve

The EGR valve functions to reintroduce some exhaust gases back into the combustion cycle to lower temperature and reduce NOx emissions: as it is exposed to exhaust gases (often containing oil and diesel residues), it tends to get dirty and can become blocked, just like the duct connecting the exhaust manifold to the valve. A complete job must therefore include cleaning both the valve and the aforementioned duct. Once the plastic engine cover and air filter housing are removed, you can access the EGR valve for dismantling: after unscrewing the fastening nuts, carefully extract it from its seat using a screwdriver and hammer; then proceed to dismantle the duct and clean it using the appropriate cleaner. Once cleaning is complete, reassemble everything in reverse order.
