Replacement of the Steering Rack Axial Joint

To replace the axial joint (commonly known as the tie rod) of the steering rack, raise the vehicle on suitable axle stands and remove the front wheel. Before removing the ball joint, loosen the locking nut on the axial joint itself. Then, unscrew the fastening nut of the ball joint, pull it out from the hub support, and unscrew it from the tie rod, counting the number of turns. At this point, remove the retaining clips of the gaiter and unscrew the tie rod from the rack, taking care of the plastic washer. Screw in the new tie rod, insert the gaiter securing it with the respective clips, and screw the ball joint back in the same number of turns. At the end of the installation, it is advisable to check the alignment on a suitable test bench, but preliminarily, you can also check the wheel alignment using a piece of string as shown in the video.
