Procedure to Replace Engine Oil and Oil Filter in a Renault Megane 1.4 TCE

Model: Renault Megane Megane III, Megane 3 - Years 2008-2015

Get into the vehicle, turn off the engine, and pull the handbrake; lift the car using a hydraulic jack and place safety stands underneath; remove the 10 mm screws and bolts securing the sump under the engine, then slide the sump backwards to remove it from its position. Use a 14 mm socket to unscrew the engine oil drain plug (wear disposable gloves to avoid getting dirty). Position a container under the oil drain plug and wait for all the oil to drain out. Remove the oil filler cap and dipstick to allow better drainage. Remove the oil filter, located near the oil sump (use a strap wrench, turning counter-clockwise). Place a bowl under the filter to catch any leaking oil. Take the new oil filter and lubricate the seal with clean oil; screw in the new oil filter (tighten by hand and then give it a half turn with the wrench to secure it). Screw in the drain plug with a new washer, without over-tightening. Lower the vehicle and then use a funnel to top up with new oil "SAE 5W-40" (4.4 litres of oil).
