In this video, see how to replace the gear gaiter and knob on a Saab 9-3. To remove the gaiter, it is necessary to also remove the metal plate, as the gaiter itself is quite damaged. We found a leather gaiter and silver knob on eBay with the code 314493407764 for £21.96, including delivery.

Remove the old damaged gaiter from the metal plate by pushing from the inside, then take off the gear stick without too much care for the old gaiter, and also the trim that we will need to fit into the gaiter in contact with the metal plate. Insert the gaiter onto the gear stick and secure it with its clip (the YouTuber had to adapt it slightly), then use a staple gun to secure the gaiter to the plastic trim and refit it into the metal plate.

You can then replace the metal plate inside the console. Now only the knob remains on the gear lever, and the job is complete.
