Replacement of the Coolant Temperature Sensor

Model: Skoda Octavia 1U, MK 1 - Years 1996-2004
Part: Engine coolant temperature sensor

It is recommended to perform this maintenance with the engine cold, as removing the sensor will cause coolant to escape; the sensor is located at the front right (when viewed from the front) of the engine block, right next to the large hose. Disconnect the connector from the sensor, remove the retaining clip with pliers, and pull the sensor from its seat, ensuring that the o-ring gasket comes off as well. Then, install the new sensor, applying grease to the gasket, secure it with the clip, and reconnect the connector; restore the coolant level, start the engine until it reaches operating temperature, and check the correct functioning of the sensor.
