How to Remove the Alternator on Smart 451

Learn how to remove the damaged alternator from the Smart Fortwo. Lift the car on a jack and remove the rear wheel on the side where the alternator is mounted. Remove the plastic cover at the bottom of the wing (splash guard) to access the alternator located under the engine compartment. Remove the alternator and its belt. Take out the damaged alternator and fit a new one (same size and voltage). After installing the alternator, refit all the plastic covers of the car with the associated securing screws. Test the correct charging of the battery by the new alternator.
