How to Change the Oil and Filter on a Suzuki Baleno Yourself

On the Suzuki Baleno, the procedure is organised into three parts: draining and topping up the oil with filter replacement, replacing the engine air filter, and changing the spark plugs. Work with the engine warm, not hot, ensure the car is on a level surface and secure it on axle stands or a ramp, wear gloves and goggles, and prepare a large container for collecting the used oil. For the oil change, clear access from the undertray if there is a lower protection and position the container under the sump. Loosen the drain plug and allow the oil to drain completely, then clean the area and refit with the correct seal when required. Next, move on to the oil filter, remove it without forcing, and check that the old gasket does not remain stuck to the seat. Before fitting the replacement, clean the mounting surface and lightly lubricate the new filter gasket with a thin layer of clean oil, then screw it on until tight and complete the tightening securely. At this point, top up through the upper cap using oil that meets the specifications for your K12C, start for a few seconds, turn off, allow it to settle, and check the level, topping up if necessary. Conclude this part by checking for any leaks around the cap and filter. For the engine air filter, locate the filter box in the engine compartment, unlock the clips or screws of the cover, and open it just enough to remove the used element. Clean the housing gently without pushing dirt towards the duct, insert the new filter ensuring it sits correctly around the entire perimeter, then close the box and check that the duct and fixings are properly positioned. For the spark plugs, access the top of the engine and clear the area above the spark plug wells. Carefully disconnect the connectors, remove the coils, and unscrew the spark plugs, avoiding dropping dirt into the wells. Screw the new spark plugs in correctly, refit the coils and connectors, restoring any covers. Finally, perform a general check in the engine compartment, start, and verify that the operation is smooth.
