How to Activate and Deactivate Traction and Stability Control on the Toyota RAV4

Here’s how to activate the traction control (TRC) and stability control (VSC) on the Toyota RAV4: the TRC prevents wheel slip by reducing engine power or braking the wheels that are spinning freely, while the VSC monitors the car's movement and brakes individual wheels to correct oversteer and understeer. These two systems work together to maintain safety on slippery surfaces. The "VSC OFF" button can be found (depending on the versions) near the gear lever, on the centre console, or next to the drive mode selectors. To deactivate the function, simply hold the button for 3 seconds: an orange "VCS OFF" warning light will illuminate on the dashboard to confirm that the systems are deactivated. To reactivate them, just press the button briefly or turn off and restart the engine.
