How to Repair and Reset the EPS Warning Light (Electric Power Steering)

The electric power steering (EPS) helps you turn the steering wheel with less effort. If the warning light is on, it means the system is malfunctioning or at least partially disabled, making the steering very heavy at low speeds, while at high speeds the risk is lower, but in an emergency, you may not have the necessary steering responsiveness. Therefore, avoid long journeys and take the vehicle to a mechanic. The light may come on due to a temporary error, so try turning the vehicle off and on several times. The problem could also be a low voltage battery, or corroded or loose cables. Faulty terminals or a blown fuse can also be an issue. Don't overlook low tyre pressure either. To reset the light, turn the steering wheel fully to the right, then fully to the left, and finally back to the centre. Turn off and restart the vehicle and check if the light has gone out.
