Removing and Replacing the Battery

Model: Toyota Prius MK 1 - Years 2004-2009

Batteries are located in the boot. Open the boot lid and remove the battery compartment cover. Once the faulty battery is identified, first loosen the nut of the negative terminal and remove it from the battery, then loosen the nut of the positive terminal and remove it from the battery terminal. Extract the battery from its housing using the designated handle. Install the new battery. Clean the battery terminals with sandpaper or a cloth. Position the terminal on the positive post, pushing it down firmly and tightening the retaining nut, then perform the same operation with the negative terminal. Do not dispose of the used battery in the environment but take it to the appropriate collection centres.
