Position the vehicle on a horizontal plane, without slope, and lock it by activating both the parking brake (handbrake) and engaging the first gear. Loosen the wheel pins and positioned the jack to start lifting the vehicle. For safety, place jack stands and place a board (or if you have suitable stops) in front of the front wheels in order to permanently lock the vehicle. The jack can now be removed and the car will be held by the jack stands. Unscrew the wheel bolts and remove it from the hub. At this point, equipped with a bucket with degreaser, start cleaning the brake caliper using a brush. A tip is also to use a spray brake cleaner which has the triple power to clean, lubricate and protect your braking system and all its components. Once this is done, refit the season tire (summer and / or winter). Loosely screw the wheel bolts, reposition the jack and lift the car. Now remove the stands and let the car come down from the jack. The wheel bolts can then be tightened permanently. For an excellent job, tighten the same bolts with the aid of a torque wrench, retrieving the tightening data from the manufacturer or from the maintenance booklet. Before traveling, always check your work.
