If you want to undertake a complete restoration of an off-road vehicle like the Toyota Land Cruiser, the first requirement is to not rush and to arm yourself with plenty of patience: restoration is indeed a process full of pitfalls, from bolts breaking due to rust to parts that are impossible to find as they are no longer in production. That said, the satisfaction you will feel upon completion will repay every single effort; a worthy restoration will involve completely disassembling the vehicle, separating the body from the chassis, and then removing the engine and gearbox from the chassis itself. Every single part must be cleaned, sandblasted, overhauled, and if necessary, galvanised or painted; all rust-corroded parts must be removed from the body and reconstructed properly. When all elements are ready (including upholstery and interior trim), you can patiently proceed with the vehicle assembly.
