How to Maximise the Lifespan of a Hybrid Battery in a Toyota Prius

In this video, you can see how to maximise the lifespan of the hybrid battery in a Toyota Prius (but naturally, these tips apply to any hybrid vehicle). First, avoid leaving the vehicle stationary for more than two weeks, as this can be very damaging to the cells; it is advisable to drive it, even for short distances, on alternate days. As a second tip, be aware that running the vehicle on empty is not recommended, as the hybrid battery relies on the internal combustion engine to recharge its cells. The third suggestion is to keep your vehicle sheltered from heat, so if possible, park in the shade and maintain the cooling system as efficiently as possible: heat can cause the cells to swell, leading to unpleasant effects. On the other hand - and this is the fourth suggestion - it is not advisable to stay parked for long periods with the air conditioning on, as this will drain the hybrid battery. The fifth and final step is to always maintain a medium charge, so it should never be fully discharged or overcharged: this excessive fluctuation greatly reduces the battery's lifespan.
